Activities Promoting the Wellbeing of Multilingual Older People, Espoo

The aim of the activities promoting the wellbeing of multilingual older people is to reduce loneliness and prevent social exclusion among older people who speak languages other than Finnish, while strengthening social relationships, peer support and a sense of participation.

Activities supporting the well-being of multilingual older people

As part of the project, the MUMILI Ystäväkerho group provides a safe and confidential environment where participants can meet others, share their experiences, receive peer support and build new social connections in their own native language.

Community-based activities help participants make new friends and strengthen their sense of belonging. For many participants, the group becomes their first stable social network in Espoo, and contact often continues outside the group activities as well.

Who is it for?

The activities are intended for Espoo residents aged 65 and over who speak languages other than Finnish, including immigrants and Ukrainian refugees.

The target group particularly includes older people who experience loneliness, social isolation or a risk of social exclusion.

The activities are free of charge and open to everyone who belongs to the target group.

Funding

The activities promoting the wellbeing of multilingual older people are funded by the City of Espoo.

The project is implemented in 2026.
